We are to grow in every way  –  Christ is both the source and goal  –  ‘the head’ in ancient physiology  –  This growth is in quality not quantity  –  growth presupposes life  –  possible parallel thoughts with 2:20-22 ‘the capstone’ and 4:13 ‘grow into the perfect man’  –  no one member is above any other  –  the importance of context with Paul’s use of metaphors, using ‘Christ is the cornerstone’ and ‘the body of Christ’ as examples  –  we must be balanced and have grace in all areas
