Lesson 27 :  Five Descriptions of the Gentiles’ Unsaved Condition  (2:12)

‘Remember’ # 1: separated from Christ  –  The Messiah from a Jewish perspective  –  Messiah = ‘the Anointed One’ in Hebrew  –  Christ = ‘the Anointed One’ in Greek  –  ‘Remember’ # 2: alienated from the commonwealth of Israel  –  ‘Remember’ # 3: strangers to the covenants of promise  –  ‘Remember’ # 4: having no hope  –  Biblically, ‘hope’ is not merely ‘wishful thinking’  –  The unsaved say they have hope but it is illusionary, unreal  –  ‘Remember’ # 5: without God in the world  –  Those without Christ are without God  –  But in Christ Jesus the Gentiles are brought near  –  ‘proselyte’ defined: from the Greek to mean ‘come near’
